We offer an academic, sporting, co-curricular and personal development programme that affords students every opportunity to grow in knowledge, self-confidence, skill and understanding.

Class Rooms


Each classroom houses a large area and is designed such that every student gets the teacher's maximum individual attention.

Apart from regular teaching rooms alone there are a number of other rooms like the Resource Audio-Visual, room Art and Craft rooms to facilitate better learning.

Well-ventilated with huge windows, they offer the right atmosphere for learning. The white boards and bulletin boards placed at vantage points, make learning easier and interesting.

The strength of each class is kept at a manageable level of 30 and comfortable furniture adding to the ambience of the class room.



Computer Lab


Computer education is an integral part of the curriculum at National Public School, Chikkabanavara, Bangalore. The state-of the art computer laboratory with 100 systems is very popular among the students. Students are trained to learn the latest software applications and programming languages. The school offers computer education from Class 1 to Class 12. Highly qualified teachers impart the knowledge of computers and fully equip the students for the challenges of the computer age.

A dedicated broadband Internet connection in the lab provides Internet access to source websites for educational materials. Computer sessions and Internet access are monitored and supervised by computer teachers who aid and guide the children through the sessions.



In computer education, the emphasis is on concept formation rather than merely providing information. At the primary and middle level, students are trained to use computers with focus on application software like Picture Maker, Logo and Paint. They are also trained to use MS-Office applications like MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, MS-FrontPage and Flash. Students are given hands-on experience to work on this software. Secondary school students are introduced to hard core programming through object-oriented programming language C++, Visual Basic and Web Designing.

Computer Science and Informatics Practices prescribed by the CBSE are offered as optional subjects to students at the Senior Secondary level.


The Science Laboratory


The Science Lab at National Public School, Chikkabanavara, Bangalore, provides an atmosphere of experiencing and learning science. It is an ultramodern Science lab, which can accommodate more than hundred students..

The Science lab also provides an open environment for students to experiment and do research work. Under the professional guidance and assistance given by our science teachers, students are also encouraged to exhibit their innovative powers by developing samples and models.

Our Science lab is highly sophisticated and fully equipped to meet the curriculum requirements for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. We have separate workstations for these three subjects.


The state of the art equipment for Physics allows students to perform experiments and study various principles and laws. The facilities and wide range of chemicals and apparatus allow the students a hands-on experience in learning Chemistry.

There are numerous preserved biological specimens to observe and study, widening the exposure of students to the world of Biology.

The main lab also has a special area called 'Junior Lab' where students in the middle school get a hands-on experience.



Library/Media Centre


The library is the main resource centre for the students and the faculty at National Public School, Chikkabanavara. There are Two Libraries available for Children, with a seating capacity of over 150 in each.

→ Collection


The vast collection of over 15,000 volumes is mainly comprised of textbooks, reference books, fiction titles, periodicals and audio-visual material like CDs and VCDs. Separate areas house the collection of syllabus-based textbooks (according to classes), fiction titles (primary and secondary) as also periodicals and audio visual materials.

→ Textbook collection


Syllabus-based textbooks from different authors help the students to self-study the subject in greater detail and also help the teachers to teach the subjects from different angles and give extra information on any given topic.

→ Fiction collection


A large number of fiction titles by leading authors such as Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton etc. are available for the primary section and authors such as Robin Cook, Arthur Clarke, Ruskin Bond, etc. are available for the senior sections.


→ Reference books

A collection of nearly 2000 titles inclusive of Encyclopaedias, dictionaries, atlases, thesaurus etc. are available to the students and the teachers for their day-to-day teaching and assignment work.


→ Periodicals

The library subscribes to nearly 35 periodicals inclusive of 5 national daily newspapers. Children's magazines as well as subject-based journals are used well by students and teachers alike.


→ Teachers' Resources

Reference titles assisting the teachers in their teaching as well as in preparing their study material and worksheets are placed in the basement. Latest foreign publications in different subjects help the teachers to update their knowledge



→ Audio Visual Materials

Many CDs comprising of nursery rhymes, storytelling aids and other titles for primary classes are available for the teachers. The faculty members also use subject based CDs in Science as well as Mathematics as an aid to their classroom teaching. Globes, geometry boxes, large sized books and flap books are also other teaching aids stocked in the library


→ Reading Programme for classes 1 to 6

This special reading programme encourages the children to read recommended library books. A book review of a few lines is submitted by the student after reading every book which is displayed on the bulletin board in the library.



Audio-Visual Rooms


The audio-visual room is extensively used by the faculty and students to make presentations. To ensure long-term retention of what is taught, the school uses Power Point presentations and the Smart Board to hone student skills and encourage student-teacher interactions.

Computer Aided teaching sessions hold a special place at NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, Chikkabanavara, which give our students the winning edge in a competitive world. Students have the pleasure of learning various topics with the help of computers. A research-oriented approach is encouraged and frequent analysis of projects helps students to orient themselves with the rapidly changing requirements of the world outside.



Auditorium


The spacious auditorium which has a seating capacity of about 2000 is equipped with the best acoustics and light systems. The auditorium helps students to conduct quizzes, debates and concerts.



The Math Lab

A well-equipped Math Lab at NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, Chikkabanavara, provides students with the opportunity to have fun with numbers.

It creates a challenging atmosphere for students to put their mathematical abilities to test and enhances their analytical reasoning and lateral thinking through various games and activities. We instil and develop the observation skills among students to derive formulae.

In the Math Lab, games are organized, models made, quizzes conducted, projects exhibited. Thus, the complete learning process is done through practical means.

For Classes 1 to 8, experiments are done based on the concepts dealt in the syllabus. Various kits are designed and they are used to derive the formulae. For Classes 9 and 10, students work on 20 different math experiments, which are specified by the NCERT syllabus. They are also assessed on the Math Lab activities.


The Art & Craft Programme


The spacious art room at National Public School, Chikkabanavara, helps to unleash the creative streak in students and the soothing ambience makes it a much sought after room. Art plays a vital role in the all-round development of the students towards moulding the thought process and values of life.

The Art Department at NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, Chikkabanavara, is committed to the cause of nurturing creative thinking and artistic growth, through inspirational instruction and a structured, goal-oriented curriculum. Creativity is an inborn quality in children. Teachers guide and encourage them to explore and exhibit their hidden talent and artistic potential from the budding stages to develop as blooming artists.

Art Education in the pre-primary classes begins with learning and identifying different colours. The foundation course at the Primary school level is based on encouraging the students to explore drawing skills, understand the theory of colours and colouring concepts and get acquainted with the usage of various colouring materials, while practicing the art of blending colours.

The core activity at the Secondary School level is designed to enhance the visual knowledge of perspective drawings, to produce skilful 2D and 3D sketches and illustrations with creative applications of pencil, colour and paint techniques.

The study of Art culminates at the Senior-Secondary level providing a platform to demonstrate the knowledge acquired over the years in appreciating the role-play of 'line', 'shape', 'light', 'texture', 'balance', 'harmony', 'contrast', 'rhythm', 'tone', 'emphasis', 'span' and above all 'colours.

The designing skill is evident in the various posters, props and models created for all annual events and fests, displaying an artistic touch of excellence.

Health Centre


  • At National Public School, Chikkabanavara, when students feel unwell or a little ill at ease, they are allowed to use the health centre.
  • A tranquil atmosphere is provided there with basic first-aid facilities.
  • In case of immediate attention, qualified teachers are available to attend and nurse the students in the health centre.
  • The faculty ensures that utmost care is taken till the parents are available to care for their child.

    Guidance and Counselling


    Qualified and experienced teachers act as counsellors and provide assistance for children with respect to learning, emotional and behavioural differences / difficulties observed in school. The children are referred to the counsellors by the class teachers and a preliminary assessment of the situation is made. Help is offered in terms of counselling and guiding students and parents. The counsellors also suggest suitable interventional remedies to handle difficulties. The capability and the outreach of the counsellors in the school are limited to an initial assessment of the issue

    Swimming Pool


    All our instructors are certified by Karnataka Swimming Association.To assist your child we have well trained swimming trainers,alternatively our friendly staff is always there to help you out. Learning to swim and to perfect it is a long and on-going process and can be, for many, a difficult skill to accomplish. Some remain a plateau, while others progress leaps and bounds. Breathing coordination is especially difficult to master and may take some time.

    Transportation


    The School has its own transport infrastructure to provide convenient conveyance for the students and staff from nearby areas. Pick-up and drop facilities are made available keeping in mind the convenience of all those who avail of the School transport facilities.
